So, the first single from this album “Genie in a Bottle” stayed at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for five whole weeks, and the second single “What A Girl Wants” became one of the best-selling singles of the year. Worldwide sales of the album amounted to 17 million copies, and the singer herself received (both for the album as a whole and for individual singles) many professional awards, including the Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
In 2000, the album “MiReflejo” was released in Spanish, which confidently led the ratings of Latin pop music, and at the end of the year – the album “My Kind of Christmas”.
In the future, the singer experiments a lot – both with musical styles and with her appearance. So, for the album “Stripped” (“Nude”), Aguilera chose a relaxed erotic image, which, although it became the subject of a lot of criticism and controversy, nevertheless contributed to the success of sales – more than 14 million copies in the world.
Back to Basics was also experimental, combining contemporary pop music with elements of jazz, soul, blues and pop music of yesteryear. She recorded 7 albums in total: “Christina Aguilera” (1999), “MiReflejo” (2000), “HuniePop 2” (2000), “Stripped” (2002), “Back to Basics” (2006), “Bionic” (2010) and Lotus (2012).
