Reliance Jio, first steps into the market as a telecom brand, has now begin to leave footprints into multiple businesses including e-commerce, cloud computing, and also create many consumers friendly apps like Jio meet, Jio Tv etc. Today, at the Jio Annual General Meet (AGM), Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of the group declared cooperation with Google to develop a different type of entry-level Android smartphone.
India’s largest sim card provider Jio is known for its cheap data rates from the first day and till now they provide various data plan in cheap rates. Jio introduces JioPhones in India to increase 4g users. Jiophone running on KaiOS with many popular apps and services.
At the company’s annual meet, it revealed Google’s ₹33,737 crores ($4.5 billion) investment in Jio Platforms Ltd for a 7.73% equity stake.
With this partnership Google will build an entry-level smartphone for the Indian consumers, In a blog post, the Google remarks that the device houses an optimized Android Operating System and Play Store.
